2020: go west

Tue, January 21, 2020
5:30 PM UTC

coding berlin returns in 2020. Kindly hosted by bitgrip in the very heart of Berlin's "City West" we're going to peek into the current affairs of software development. This time we're hearing a talk on data analysis & the art of learning to code, followed by an interactive session on decentralized, local applications written in Go and Javascript.

6:30pm Doors open
7:00pm A warm welcome by coding berlin & bitgrip
7:15pm Stephan Ansorge: Pokémon, Pandas, "BigData" and a Flask of magic
Stephan talks about how he as a "coding dad" works through great frameworks to thrill his kids with code. He elaborates on how to playfully approach statistical and data analysis tools to gain knowledge, extend programming skills in general and come up with new ideas.

8:00pm Mina Nagy Zaki: Building a P2P local network chat with Go, CRDTs and mDNS (code along & workshop time)
Mina introduces us to the wonderful world of local application development in Go and concentrates on decentralized data aspects. He explains the art of synchronizing data with CRDTs, how to discover local network peers using mDNS and connecting the peers with each other. His talk is setup as an interactive session so it'll be helpful to bring along a machine with a working Go toolchain to follow (Mina will start his talk with a crash course on getting started golang as well)

8:45pm hack along Mina's and Stephan's concepts or just have a beer

All contributions follow our golden "*1 line of code*" rule, so demos and live code will be abound. You don't have to register to get into our stream but if you do, we send you updates (and nothing else) like the final YouTube URL of the stream before the event.
