coding leipzig - exodus

Lets keep up the good vibes that have been rolling through our genesis meetup: we're glad to present you chapter #2 of coding leipzig: exodus on October, 17th at the amazing basislager event space. BTW, never mind the theocratical associations, there are only 3 more to go and they're mostly meaningless for our topic ;) In fact, a rough headline this time could be "messaging and validation".

We listened to your kind feedback and scheduled two talks only so we've planned more room for networking, inspiring chats and: lightning talks! Because everybody loves lightning talks, don't you? If you've got something to tell, prepare one (5-10min) if you want. We'd love to see you in action ;)

As said earlier this year there's only one rule for everything that you present when facing the audience: it must contain at least 1 line of code since this is a meetup by coders for coders.

There's also a good chance that the food choice is more finger friendly this time; here's a riddle for you: which food looks like the Cartesian product of two circles?

And that's our schedule:

18:28 Doors open

19:00 Talk 1 "You know, for search": Thomas will give a general introduction into Elasticsearch. His talk comes with lots of demos and covers general ES topics like indexing & versioning, querying & filtering and aggregations. He will point out common pitfalls and tell a story about one of his customers who used ElasticSearch as primary database for half a billion products.

19:45 Talk 2 Konstantin will enlight us about the usage of JsonPath & data driven validations that he uses to validate messages in the energy business. Participants of the German energy market are obliged to follow regulatory rules that rely on the exchange of messages in an EDIFACT format. Although EDIFACT is an industry standard it doesn't interact well with nowadays technology such as REST APIs. JSON Path (like XPath but for JSON) is one possibility to evaluate rules in a both elegant and efficient way on top of a JSON structure.

20:30 Lightning Talks & stand together, have a chat, enjoy your fellow devs

Looking forward seeing you people again in October!!

All contributions follow our golden "*1 line of code*" rule, so demos and live code will be abound. You don't have to register to get into our stream but if you do, we send you updates (and nothing else) like the final YouTube URL of the stream before the event.
